My air fryer has been my best friend ever since I discovered it a while back, especially when it comes to cooking my vegetables. The manner in which it cooks by circulating hot air makes the veggies crisp and crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. The quick cook time, easy cleanup and healthier food prep make it a perfect addition to any kitchen. You get the full benefit of the taste of fried food for a fraction of the calories.
I've cooked many different types of vegetables in my air fryer but these French beans have been everyone's favorite so far. I pre marinate them for 15 minutes with the ingredients below on most days, but when in a hurry I just add a little olive oil and air fry, sprinkling the everything but bagel seasoning at the end, both methods yield amazing results!
Before we get to the actual recipe, you may ask why French beans and not Green beans. What even is the difference between the two? They are both from the same family but the Haricot Vert as the French bean is known is thinner and shorter in length than it's counterpart as well as being more tender and flavorful. However, If you can't find them at your local grocery store, Green beans will work just as well. But if you have an option to choose I would highly recommend the French beans.
The "Everything But Bagel Seasoning" is sold in most stores under various different brand names, but incase you don't have access to it I've enclosed the recipe below. You can mix your own blend and store it in your spice cupboard. It's a great way to season just about everything !
INGREDIENTS:
1 Pound French Beans
2 Tablespoons Sesame Oil
2 Tablespoons Rice Vinegar
2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
1 Tablespoon Everything Bagel Seasoning
EVERYTHING BUT THE BAGEL SEASONING BLEND:
2 Teaspoons Poppy Seeds
2 Teaspoons White Sesame Seeds
2 Teaspoons Black Sesame Seeds
1 Teaspoon Dried Garlic
1 Teaspoon Dried Onion
½ Teaspoon Flaked Sea Salt
DIRECTIONS:
1. Marinate the French Beans in the Sesame Oil, Rice Vinegar and Soy Sauce for about 30 minutes.
2. Preheat the Air Fryer for 2-3 minutes to 300 degrees.*
3. Cook the beans in the air fryer for 10 minutes.
4. Place in serving dish and sprinkle the Everything But The Bagel Seasoning and enjoy.
*Air Fryers are a little tricky to cook in if you're new to it and each one is different, so you may need to adjust the timing a bit. I would check the beans after 5 minutes and gauge how much longer you need to cook them.
